LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's mayor is inviting the public to honor the lives lost to violence in 2025.
Mayor Craig Greenberg and the city's Office of Violence Prevention will host an interfaith prayer and candlelight ceremony Thursday, Jan. 15, from 5-7:30 p.m. at Bates Memorial Baptist Church.
The ceremony "serves as a powerful moment of remembrance, healing, and unity" for the city, Greenberg's office said Monday.
"As we commit ourselves to the work of making Louisville safer, the memory of those we've lost is a reminder of the fact that we can, and we must do better," Greenberg said in a news release. "Even as we see encouraging progress, we will keep fighting, together, to continue reducing violence in our community."
The names of victims will be displayed during the event to pay tribute to their lives and their memory.
Families of victims were also invited to attend, as many cases remain unsolved.
