LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Emergency Services rolled out its new Mobile Operations Center on Tuesday.

The unit features advanced communications technology, surveillance capabilities and workspace for officers coordinating responses in the field.

The state-of-the-art mobile command center will allow emergency partners to monitor situations in real time, share information quickly, and manage operations during large public events, disasters or critical incidents.

Metro leaders said bringing command resources directly to a scene can improve coordination and help responders make faster decisions when it matters most.

"We can not only support one, but two operations that may be going on in our county," said Jody Meiman, executive director of Louisville Metro Emergency Services. "And if the need arises for emergency responders outside of our county, we can respond outside and still have logistical support back here in Jefferson County as well."

The total cost of the mobile operations center was about $2 million.
