LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More than 200 families will now be able to have a hot meal on Christmas.
RK Bluegrass, a catering company, the Delta Foundation and Neighborhood House hosted the Bluegrass Giveback on Sunday on West Main Street in Louisville's Portland neighborhood.
Pre-registered families could pick up everything needed for a Christmas meal, and also receive a hot meal on Sunday. Santa Claus made an appearance and everyone also could have cookies and hot chocolate.
It was a way to help families in a time where food insecurity is growing.
"It really does take a village to move everyone forward in Louisville and so it is great to have businesses, partnerships and nonprofit partnerships to help support families," said Jennie Jean Davidson, executive director of Neighborhood House.
All of the organizations involved want to make it an annual event.
