LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police and first responders are on the scene of a serious crash Wednesday afternoon involving a motorcycle on Taylorsville Road.
It happened around 1 p.m., according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police. Sixth Division officers responded to report of a motor vehicle collision in the 3700 block of Taylorsville Road near Furman Boulevard, not far from the ramps to Interstate 264 near the Bon Air neighborhood.
Investigators with the LMPD Traffic Unit interviewed witnesses and determined the man riding the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Taylorsville Road in the left lane "at a high rate of speed" when he hit the back of a vehicle that was "making a lefthand turn, crossing over the eastbound lanes to get to westbound Taylorsville Road from a nearby business."
After the impact, the man lost control and was thrown from the bike. First responders began medical treatment at the scene before the man was taken to UofL Hospital, where he died shortly after arrival.
The crash remains under investigation by the LMPD's Traffic Unit.
