LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 33-year-old woman was charged in a fatal shooting that happened at a home in southwest Louisville in September.Â
A Louisville Metro Police spokesman released a statement on Friday that said Aleshia Reed had been charged with one count of murder — domestic violence.Â
The shooting happened after 1 a.m. Sept. 7 at a home on Teakwood Circle, which is off Cane Run Road near Lees Lane. Court records show Reed lived at the home where the shooting happened.Â
An arrest citation said when LMPD officers arrived at the scene, Reed "directed officers to her bedroom where the victim was located suffering from a gunshot wound." The victim died at the scene. No name or details have been released about that person.Â
Police said broken items in the room indicated a fight. A shotgun was found in the corner of the bedroom.Â
Investigators believe Reed was the only person in the home with the victim at the time of the shooting.Â
An autopsy showed the victim died from a gunshot wound from a .12 gauge shotgun. It was not self-inflicted.Â
Reed was scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday on the murder charge.Â
