LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville business owner said she's living a nightmare with her business windows shattered, her home security threatened and chilling online messages targeting her life.

Shockingly Queta King said she's been tormented for two years by a man she said she doesn’t know.

According to King, it all began in November 2022 when she was newly divorced and adjusting to her new life. One night, she was awakened by the sound of someone trying to break into her home.

"He was at my door, juggling the handles and pressing my keypad, trying to get access to my house," King said.

Alarmed, King called the police and her family. Her daughters began asking neighbors if they had seen anything unusual. They soon made a startling discovery when they recognized the man who lived just five doors down as the person caught on the alarm footage.

"'Mama, that's the guy in the video footage from the alarm,'" King remembers her daughters saying.

King said the harassment continued, with the man allegedly breaking windows in her home and car and even targeting her interior and event design business.

"He vandalized my venue, and I was forced to close it because I work a lot by myself," King said.

Feeling unsafe, King sold her home and moved. But the harassment allegedly did not stop. She said the man began sending threatening messages online, targeting her and her family.

"He has sent threatening messages to me, threatening to kill me or a family member," King said. "I woke up yesterday morning, and he had followed my entire family."

In February, King filed a protective order against the man. When he didn't appear in court, a judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

King later learned that the man has a lengthy criminal history, including pleading guilty to wanton endangerment and attempted arson in a separate incident involving another woman.

"I’ve been told stalking isn’t an easy thing to prove," King said.

King is now going public with her story, hoping to raise awareness and find help as her case continues through the court system. She said she's determined to protect herself and her family.

"I have two daughters, and they both live alone," King said. "So despite what may happen, I have to stand up for them if nothing else."

As her case moves forward, King is urging anyone who has experienced similar situations to come forward and seek help.

WDRB has chosen not to identify the man because he has not been charged in this case.
