LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — A birthday celebration at the Louisville Zoo Friday gave several animals a chance to enjoy treats, toys and enrichment activities.

The zoo hosted its monthly animal birthday bash, where animals born during the same month received customized treats, enrichment activities and special toys.

Among those celebrated was Paki, a western lowland gorilla who turned 37. Zoo officials said the milestone is roughly equivalent to a person in their mid-to-late 70s.

From toucans to mountain zebras, birthday animals received snacks and enrichment items designed to encourage natural behaviors and mental stimulation.

The monthly celebration gives visitors a chance to learn more about the zoo’s animals while watching them explore treats and toys created by zoo staff.
