LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Radcliff is the luckiest city in Kentucky this week!

In a news release, the Kentucky Lottery said Wednesday's Powerball drawing had two big winners sold at separate retailers in Radcliff.

A ticket that won $2 million was sold at the Five Star Convenience Store, 1871 North Dixie Boulevard.

Another ticket, worth $1 million, was sold at the Walmart Fuel Station, 102 Gateway Crossing Boulevard.

Lottery officials also said a $50,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold online.

The winning Powerball numbers for Dec. 20 were: 27 – 35 – 41 – 56 – 60 Powerball 16.

Both tickets for the drawing matched all five white ball winning numbers but not the Powerball, winning the game’s second prize of $1 million. The $2 million winner added the Power Play feature to double their prize.

A Radcliff man, who wants to remain anonymous, has already picked up his big check for the $1 million Powerball winner. He told Lottery officials that he called his wife at work to tell her the big news.

“I told her, ‘I think I’m having a heart attack.’” “Oh my god, do I need to call 911,” she asked. “I told her, ‘No, I think I won the lottery. We just won a million dollars!”

The couple received a check for $715,005 after taxes. They told officials they will pay off their house but also plan to purchase a home for their son.

The Kentucky Lottery advises winners to sign the back of their tickets and keep them in a secure location. The winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to collect their prize.

Prizes must be claimed at the Kentucky Lottery headquarters at 1011 W. Main St. in Louisville. Winners need to call 1-877-789-4532 to make an appointment to claim their prize. The lottery will be closed for the holidays Friday, Dec. 22 and Monday, Dec. 25, 2023.

There was no jackpot winner for the Powerball. The jackpot for Saturday's drawing is for an estimated $620 million.

According to the Kentucky Lottery website, there hasn't been a big jackpot collected in Kentucky since there were two in 2010.

In January 2010, a Georgetown couple, Rob and Tuesday Anderson, won after a clerk at the Pro Stop Marathon incorrectly printed a Powerball ticket for Rob on Christmas Eve 2009. The mistake ticket ended up hitting the game’s $128.6 million jackpot.

In December 2010, Knott County native and Louisville resident Muncie Meade won the Powerball worth $19.12 million.

There are nine ways to win the Powerball:

  • Match 5 + Powerball = $680 million jackpot
  • Match 5 + No Match = $1,000,000
  • Match 4 + Powerball = $50,000
  • Match 4 + No Match = $100
  • Match 3 + Powerball = $100
  • Match 3 + No Match = $7
  • Match 2 + Powerball = $7
  • Match 1 + Powerball = $4
  • No Match + Powerball = $4

Powerball's terrible odds of 1 in 292.2 million are designed to generate big jackpots, with prizes becoming ever larger as they repeatedly roll over when no one wins.
