LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Madison Regatta returns to southern Indiana this weekend.

The annual event is held in Madison for boat racing enthusiasts and others since its founding in 1951. It goes from July 4-6 this year on the Ohio River in Madison, Indiana.

The regatta is known for hydroplane races, which is motorboat racing that requires boats to skim the water's surface at high speeds.

Since 2018, regatta day has been accompanied by the Roostertail Music Festival.
