RONNIE WATKINS ARRAIGNMENT 7-2-2025 (1).jpeg

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A second man has been arrested in connection with a deadly fight at a Louisville bar last month.

Ronnie Watkins, 30, was arrested Tuesday on a murder charge with the help of the Louisville Metro Police SWAT team, department spokesperson Sgt. Matt Sanders said.

Watkins is the second person to be arrested in the June 22 fight outside the Corner Tavern on Mt. Washington Road. Christopher Foley, 29, was arrested the next day on a murder charge after the victim in the fight died at the hospital, according to police.

Officers responded to the bar around 1:30 a.m. that Saturday on a reported fight, LMPD said at the time.

Witnesses told police that Foley confronted the victim outside the venue, yelling that he owed him money. According to court documents, Foley can be seen on surveillance video throwing the victim to the ground and hitting him several times.

The victim died later at the hospital. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has not yet released their identity.

A not guilty plea was entered by the judge for Watkins at his arraignment on Wednesday. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim's family or with his co-defendant, Foley. His bond was set at $250,000 full cash with HIP, if he is released.

During Foley's arraignment last week, his attorney claimed Foley and the victim "were mutual combatants," according to a witness at the scene. As Foley was turning to leave, "the victim got up and came back at him," according to Foley's attorney, who also claimed "another individual either shoved or punched or hit the victim and knocked him down, and the victim hit his head."

The judge declined a request by Foley's attorney for home incarceration or reduced bond. He appeared in court again Tuesday, where his murder charge was amended to complicity to murder. His bond was set at $250,000. The charge was waived to a grand jury for the first week of August.
