LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Two more people died as a result of last week's devastating flooding in Kentucky, bringing the statewide death toll to six.

On Tuesday morning, Gov. Andy Beshear announced on social media two additional flood-related deaths in Hardin and Jefferson counties.

Louisville officials confirmed that the Jefferson County flood-related death was the man who was swept away by Floyds Fork waters.

The latest deaths came after days of severe flooding caused by repeated rounds of heavy rain across much of Kentucky. Beshear declared a statewide state of emergency June 27 as floodwaters prompted dozens of water rescues, road closures and evacuations in several communities.

The flooding also caused widespread damage across central and western Kentucky, including flash flooding that destroyed homes, washed out roads and forced emergency crews to conduct numerous rescues. Beshear has requested federal disaster assistance as communities continue recovery efforts.

The identities of the two latest victims haven't been released.
