LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Eight people were hospitalized Sunday evening after a rollover crash on the Gene Snyder Freeway.

Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, said officers responded just before 7 p.m. to a reported rollover crash on eastbound Interstate 265.

Police said a pickup truck and a sedan rolled over and ended up in the cable barriers nearby. The crash took place between Interstate 64 and the Taylorsville Road exit, but closer to I-64, police said.

According to police, one of the vehicles was in the right lane and merged into the center lane but did not see another vehicle and crashed into it.

The crash caused both drivers to lose control, overturn and hit the cable barriers.

Police said both vehicles were traveling southbound. Eight people were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All lanes in the area have since reopened.
