LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man hit by a vehicle in Fern Creek Wednesday night has died, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Officers were called to a report that a pedestrian had been hit around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bardstown and Fern Creek Roads, LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said in statement.
Once on scene, police found a man who had been hit by a pickup truck.
According to Ellis, investigators believe the truck was headed north in the right lane of Bardstown Road, when he drove up on a man wearing dark clothing who was walking in the road.
Despite attempts by the driver to get out of the way, he hit the man. Ellis said he stopped immediately and called 911.
EMS transported the victim to University of Louisville Hospital with critical injuries. Ellis said the man died Thursday afternoon from his injuries.
No charges are expected to be filed against the driver. LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.
