LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was killed late Monday night as he was trying to cross Preston Highway in a wheelchair.
That's according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police.
It happened just before 10 p.m. on June 16, according to the release. That's when officers from LMPD's Sixth Division responded to a report of a pedestrian hit in the 5700 block Preston Highway.
Officers who arrived at that location found the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Louisville Fire and EMS.
His name has not yet been released.
Investigators said the man was wearing dark clothing, and was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by a northbound SUV. The SUV's driver remained on scene and dialed 911 for assistance, according to the release.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
