LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A man survived a 17 foot fall at a dam on Saturday evening.

Officials say Jerry Lemmons, 47, was fishing from a platform at Williams Dam in Lawrence County, Indiana.

He reportedly lost his balance and fell 17 feet onto the concrete below, near the White River.

Lemmons suffered multiple broken bones and head trauma.

Volunteer firefighters used ropes and a basket to bring him to higher ground, where he was airlifted to University Hospital for treatment.

Lemmons was listed in fair condition Sunday morning.
