LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Former Republican U.S. presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will pay $25,000 for playing "Eye of the Tiger" at a Kim Davis rally last year without the band's permission.
Davis is the county clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Huckabee never paid for the rights to the song, so his campaign got sued for copyright infringement.
Huckabee and Rude Music agreed to a settlement out of court for $25,000. He paid half in May and petitioned the Federal Election Commission to let him start a legal defense fund to pay off the rest. The FEC said in a draft opinion last week that he should pay it himself.
Huckabee has not commented on the opinion.
