LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More than 170 people have tested positive for HIV in connection to the epidemic centered in Scott County.
Local health officials just moved into a building on Highway 31 near Broadway Street in Austin as they continue to help people.
They say 24 people came for 'one-stop-shop' services yesterday, despite the new location. There was some concern that the neighboring police department may deter some people from using the needle exchange, but officials say 10 people used the program.
"That included three people that had signed up that had not previously been a part of the program so we are still reaching new people with the clean needles that they need," said Preparedness Coordinator Patti Hall.
LifeSpring will work out of the same building as local health department officials to help people struggling with addictions.
