LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was killed and another man was injured after a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle near Louisville's airport last month.Â
Officers were called to the 5600 block of Preston Highway at 10:30 p.m. on June 19 on a reported crash, according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis. That's near East Indian Trail, not far from the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.
Ellis said a man was driving a motorcycle south on Preston Highway, when he lost control of the motorcycle for an unknown reason and hit another vehicle traveling northbound. The impact caused the car to catch fire.
Fire and EMS were dispatched, and fire crews quickly put out the car fire.Â
Ellis said the man driving the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 32-year-old Williams Buford Jr.Â
The man driving the car was taken to UofL Hospital with injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening.Â
Preston Highway near East Indian Trail was closed while crews cleared the scene.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.Â
