LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A motorcyclist is dead after crashing on a ramp to I-264 early Wednesday morning.

LMPD' spokesperson Aaron Ellis said it happened around 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

Ellis said the driver of the motorcycle was northbound on I-65 and lost control while merging onto the I-264 westbound ramp.

The man crashed into a concrete barrier and was thrown off the motorcycle. He died at the scene. 

Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
