LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --Â After sitting empty for five-and-a-half years, the site that was once home to an iconic restaurant in the Highlands has new life.

Mayor Greg Fischer cut the ribbon Monday night on Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint before enjoying a sandwich with Metro Council members Brandon Coan and Barbara Sexton Smith.
Martin's is replacing Lynn's Paradise Cafe, which was a Highlands hit for years.
"There's new restaurants on both sides of this business coming in," Coan said. "There are a lot more shops coming in, and I think the next several years are going to be noteworthy and historic for Barret Avenue. And it wouldn't happen without Martin's."
This is the second Martin's location in Louisville, the first of which is along Westport Road near the Gene Snyder Freeway.
