LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New owners are revamping a Jeffersonville golf course, less than a month after finalizing the sale.
After years of financial trouble and dwindling membership, the Jeffersonville Elks Lodge and Country Club was sold to a group of local investors. The club's former golf pro Matt Kirchgessner -- along with his father Wayne Kirchgessner and longtime Elks member Jim Bradshaw -- purchased the 120-acre property for $1.2 million.
The new owners have renamed it Elks Run Country Club. It will be semi-private, allowing the public to play the course and eat at the restaurant while only those with pool memberships will be able to swim.
"We call it a one day membership, because we want to treat everybody like they're a member," said Matt Kirchgessner. "We still want to give that country club experience, without having to join a country club."
The renovations include new carpet, paint, and furniture. Along with 60 new golf carts, Kirchgessner expects they'll invest around $200,000 in the property.
Kirchgessner said the green doesn't need much work, and the pool is in good shape.
Greens fees will be $35 during the week and $45 on weekends.
