LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Ronald McDonald House opened a new space for patients' families Monday in downtown Louisville.

The organization celebrated the grand reopening of the Ronald McDonald Family Room, which is on the pediatric floor of the UofL Health Frazier Rehab Institute.

The current family room will move to a new location with upgraded amenities.

The space provides a place of retreat and relaxation for patients' families, including comfortable seating, snacks and cable TV.

"To have a place like that and the La Rosa Lounge to just get away where they could just do some crafts and art and just get away from the hospital room setting and all the doctors and therapists and everything like that," said Jake Gambrel, a Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana family. "It's been phenomenal."
