LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- No injuries were reported after fire tore through a home in Louisville's Hazelwood neighborhood late Thursday evening.
The first call came in just before 10 p.m., according to a news release from the Louisville Fire Department. Crews arrived on scene in the 1600 Block of Alma Avenue about five minutes later to find heavy fire coming from several windows in the front of the home.
Firefighters began attacking the flames inside while conducting a search of the home. One man was found outside, behind the home. He reported no injuries and refused medical treatment.
The man told crews at the scene that the fire started "due to ashes being improperly discarded." The man tried to put the fire out himself with water, but was unsuccessful.
The fire was confined to the bedroom and living room. It took 24 firefighters, four engines two trucks, and one battalion to bring the fire under control.
