BRECKENRIDGE CO., Ky. (WDRB) -- The Breckinridge County parents who live "off the grid" are due back before a judge on Monday.

Joseph and Nicole Naugler and their ten children live in a 280 square feet makeshift shelter, which amounts to homemade tents without electricity or running water. Their children were taken away by child protective services several weeks ago. 

The mother and father both face misdemeanor charges.  Joseph Naugler was arrested for menacing, after trying to get water from a neighbor's well.  Naugler allegedly threatened the homeowner and told his son to get a gun, when the homeowner refused access.  

Nicole Naugler was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest following a confrontation with police, when the children were being removed from the home. 

Joseph Naugler's oldest son is now 19 years old.  He was a key witness in the custody proceedings.  He claims he was abused before he was removed from the home at age four. 

The Naugler's ten other children are now in state custody in four different homes across four counties. 

The story has gone viral nationwide --- in fact, the family has a facebook page called "Blessed Little Homestead," which has more than 41,000 likes.
