LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — More than a month after the deadly UPS plane crash in Louisville, Okolona fire officials said they're still supporting those on scene as cleanup continues.
Okolona Fire Chief Mark Little said the last month has been chaotic, but there are still fire officials on site where the plane crashed.
Little said the main reason fire officials are still on site is to make sure those participating in the cleanup stay safe.
They've also been helping business owners get into their buildings so operations can soon resume.
"When the property becomes accessible, we are escorting, along with LMPD getting those owners and managers out to the properties so they can access their equipment so that they can get back in service, up and running and get their employees paid which is important," Little said.
Little said it's been an exhausting month, but all departments are working together to keep the area safe.
