LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- FBI Louisville wants to remind the public to make sure their passwords are strong and secure.
Thursday is World Password Day. The FBI said "digital life" is real life, and a weak password puts both at risk of identity theft, financial loss and reputation damage.
The agency urges people to protect their accounts with strong, unique passphrases.
Experts said it's best to make them long, and make them random.
To help protect you and your information, the FBI shares the following tips:
- Create different unique passwords/passphrases for email, financial and health accounts
- Make your password as long as the system will allow
- Set accounts to use multi-factor authentication
- Don't allow password "hints"
