LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Fresh food, education and community support are now under one roof in Louisville’s Park DuValle neighborhood.
A new farmers market and wellness center officially opened on Wilson Avenue near Algonquin Parkway, giving West Louisville residents a new place to shop, learn and connect.
The space includes both indoor and outdoor farmers market areas, a food pantry, training kitchen and plans for a future wellness center focused on health programs and education.
Organizers said the goal is to bring healthier food options directly into the community and build long-term wellness resources.
"I wanted to purchase the building in order to bring something different to the community and also to show them how to eat healthy," said Dr. Swannie Jett, CEO.
The grand opening drew a crowd with food trucks, local vendors, music and family activities.
Leaders said the project is part of ongoing efforts to expand access to fresh food and improve health outcomes in the neighborhood.
