LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A New Albany elementary school that closed its doors two years ago, is reopening with a new mission.

Pine View Elementary school shut down for budget reasons in 2010, and Floyd County bought the building.

It's now called Pine View Government Center, and will serve as both a youth shelter and government facility.

Leah Pezzarossi is the executive director of the youth shelter and services in Floyd County.

She says this new building offers new opportunities for their programs. Pezzarossi says, "As we've grown and as we've changed and as society has changed and kids stay longer, it's become more important that it feel as residential as possible."

County Commissioners and a few other departments will share this space with the shelter. They say it's the perfect location, as the building has come full circle.

Construction workers are putting the final touches on the building over the next couple weeks.

The pine view government center will reopen early August.
