LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---The search for a woman accused of stealing from doctors' offices across Kentucky has come to an end.

36-year-old Karyn Merida is a woman well-known to authorities in Kentucky.

"There were multiple agencies involved in actively seeking her. Jeffersontown, St. Matthews, Louisville Metro, Lexington Police. She didn't see any boundaries," says Major Ken Hatmaker with Jeffersontown Police.

Major Ken Hatmaker. with Jeffersontown Police, say they had two cases involving Karyn Merida last year, including a case where they say she stole a woman's purse at a doctor's office.

"She was able to use her identity, as well as her credit cards to make purchases," says Ken Hatmaker.

In the same month, she was caught on surveillance video using a stolen credit card in a Highlands CVS, and then another stolen card was used in Lexington.

In many of the cases, police say she swiped the purses from employees at doctors' offices.

One of the victim's included Jennifer Barker, who spoke to WDRB in March of this year.

Her purse was stolen in November from her office in Norton Suburban Hospital that contained her children's social security cards, and gift cards meant for Christmas presents. 

"A littler bit more than frustrated. Even if it's not for the fact of getting my stuff back, but the fact that she should be in jail," Jennifer Barker told WDRB in March of 2012.

Barker says she is very pleased to hear that Karyn Merida is now behind bars.

She's not the only one. Police say they are glad she is finally in custody.

Police say with 14 outstanding warrants, including 12 felony cases in Jefferson County alone, this case could get even bigger.

"I would say there's a very good chance. With things like this its victim's maybe not realizing until a later date that their purse or credit card had been stolen. May not realize that it was missing," says Major Hatmaker.

According to the citations, Kentucky State Police was the group that finally caught up with Karyn Merida.

She was in court Thursday morning for charges including theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, and burglary, among others.

She'll be back in court later this month.
