POLICE: Louisville daycare employee charged with theft

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An employee of a local daycare is charged with theft after police say she pocketed some of the fees paid by parents.

Police say Deborah Johnson had been working for Southside Christian Child Care for 10 years, when her employer noticed some financial irregularities.

Johnson is accused of accepting payment from parents, giving some of that money to the daycare and pocketing the rest for herself over a two-year-period.

The problems surfaced when a parent was contacted about a past due balance she claimed she didn't owe.

Johnson is charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of property.
