LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police are investigating after a body was pulled from the Ohio River Thursday evening.
Officers were called to the scene in the area of 9th Street and Interstate 64 downtown around 7 p.m., LMPD Spokesperson John Bradley said in a statement.
Bradley said a passerby called police to report seeing what they thought was a human body floating in the water.
The police department's River Unit and Louisville Fire & Rescue responded and recovered a body near 10th and Rowan streets around 8 p.m., Bradley said.
Investigators are unable to determine the person's gender, age, or race at this time.Â
LMPD's Homicide Unit is conducting a death investigation.Â
