LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There are thousands of new Kentucky voters ready for the November election.
Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams said new voter registration surged in September to 8,600.
The state's general election will be in the national spotlight with Democrat Andy Beshear as the incumbent and state Attorney General Daniel Cameron running for governor.Â
Adams said Republicans make up 46% of the electorate, with 1.6 million voters, and Democrat registration dipped to 44% with 1.5 million voters.
The last day to register to vote in Kentucky is Tuesday, Oct. 10, by 4 p.m.
Also on Tuesday, the Jefferson County Clerk's Office will host a voter registration blitz at all motor vehicle branch locations. There will be a designated area where people can fill out a registration card or update their registration.
