LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Firefighters in southern Jefferson County were called out for a dog rescue Christmas Eve.

The Pleasure Ridge Park Fire District posted on social media that rescue teams had a "ruff call" Wednesday evening, after a dog fell into an abandoned septic tank.

Crews from Engine 89, Engine 88, Rescue 88 were called to Krages Avenue, which is off Pendleton Road off Dixie Highway. When they got there, they found the small gray and white dog at the bottom of a deep hole in the front yard of a home.

The teams got to work erecting a pulley system to lower a firefighter down into the hole to bring the dog back up. The rescue operation was successful, and the dog wasn't injured.
