LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Registration opens next week for a training program that prepares runners for the the 2025 GE Appliances miniMarathon and Marathon.

The Kentucky Derby Festival and Norton Sports Health are partnering for the free training program. It's a 15-week program that includes training options for all participants at all fitness levels.

"The Norton Sports Health Training Program is the best way to prepare for Kentucky’s largest day of road racing," Chris Martini, Kentucky Derby Festival race director, said in a news release Wednesday. "Whether it’s your first race or one of many, this program will help you stay on track to reach your goals and cross the Finish Line next spring."

Registration opens here Nov. 19. 

According to a news release, the program includes a one-sheet quick reference Official Training Plan, a free downloadable official training manual, in-person weekly group runs, stretching and cross-training opportunities, nutrition tips and more. The first 1,000 to register also receive a free tech shirt.

A kick-off for the Norton Sports Health Training Program is scheduled for Jan. 9, 2025, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Kentucky Derby Museum.
