Flooded Road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Louisville and several surrounding counties Tuesday morning as several inches of rain fell across the area.

Louisville saw 4.18 inches of rain Tuesday, per the National Weather Service, making it the third-wettest October day in the city's recorded history.

And as of 12 p.m. Tuesday, emergency responders had conducted at least three water rescues in the city. Around 1:30 p.m., Louisville Metro Public Works said the following roads were closed due to flooding:

  • Berry Boulevard at South 7th Street
  • East Oak Street at East 13th Street
  • West Hill Street at South 6th Street
  • West Hill Street at South 11th Street
  • East Oak Street at East 9th Street

Portions of Bullitt, Jefferson, Shelby and Spencer County won't see their Flash Flood Warning expire until 6 p.m.

JCPS canceled evening activities

Jefferson County Public Schools also canceled all scheduled after-school activities, sports practices, and events for Tuesday, Oct. 7. 

The district said, "The safety of our participants, coaches, and staff is our top priority. We urge everyone to avoid unnecessary travel and follow all local weather advisories."
