LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The Baer Fabrics building on East Main Street is being torn down to make way for the new downtown bridge.
The building dates back to the early 1900s and was home to Baer Fabrics for nearly 40 years until the business closed in 2008. Baer had been a go-to destination for fabrics and other sewing accessories.
Walsh Construction Co. has been selected to build the downtown crossing. The project includes widening portions Spaghetti Junction to improve the interchange and connect to the new downtown bridge.
Construction is scheduled to begin this summer.
