LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana company was on a mission to make sure residents at two assisted living facilities had gifts to open on Christmas morning.

For nearly four decades, employees at American Commercial Barge Line have stepped in to help the company's Senior Angels program. The employees adopted nearly 80 Senior Angels at Hillcrest Village in Jeffersonville and Riverview Village in Clarksville this year to provide them with gifts for the holidays.

"It's a pretty special thing," said Sarah Looper with American Commercial Barge Line. "It's nice to make sure that everyone has just a little something for Christmas. I think a lot of these residents don't have family members or friends and so to have just something on Christmas day is amazing."

American Commercial Barge Line is one of the largest barge companies in the country. Event organizers said they look forward to bringing the Senior Angels program back next year.
