SALEM, Ind. (WDRB) -- A judge in Washington County on Tuesday ordered items seized from the investigation into former Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel and his family be put up for auction to pay the $3.1 million he owes in restitution.

The property going up for auction ranges from cars, guns, jewelry and designer clothes. The former sheriff was ordered to pay the restitution after he pleaded guilty to 27 felonies related to fraud and theft after he used taxpayer money to pay for a massive car collection, an airplane, designer clothes, guns and jewelry.

"I prefer the victims be made whole," Judge Larry Medlock said Tuesday.

Noel must must pay the following agencies:

  • $2,870,924 to Utica Township Volunteers Firefighters Association (dba New Chapel EMS)
  • $173,155.07 to the Indiana Department of Revenue
  • $61,190.77 to the Clark County Sheriff's Department
  • $35,245.60 to Indiana State Police

Some of the property is still being held and can't be put up for auction yet, because it's still relevant in the pending cases against Noel's estranged wife, Misty, and his daughter, Kasey.

ISP provided a list of several items it seized while executing 71 search warrants.

That list included:

  • Cash
    • $6,000 recovered from one of Jamey Noel's vehicles
    • $52,698 recovered from Misty Noel's bedroom dresser
  • Miscellaneous items
    • Furniture, medical equipment, a 1940s Plymouth Model JHG 18 ton locomotive and 100 foot railroad track
  • 82 firearms and one suppressor
  • Clothes
    • Several Tom James suits, sports coats, and pants
  • Jewelry
    • Four Rolex watches
    • Diamond necklace
    • Necklace with 1.35 carat diamond
    • Platinum women's wedding band
  • Property owned by Utica Township Volunteers Firefighters Association
    • Black Motorola portable radio
    • Lawn mower
  • Milwaukee tools and car batteries
  • Vehicles
  • Clark County Sheriff's Department property
    • Chairs, radios, shipping containers containing various items, recliners lawnmowers

Medlock is also allowing the $75,000 bond Noel posted in Clark county to be used toward restitution.

Some of the items seized — for example, the guns and some jewelry — could be put on the auction block as soon as Jan. 1. However, the cars will need more time so they can be reconditioned.

That sale is expected in April.

"I think with being Jamey Noel's cars, there are going to be some people that want to buy these cars," said Terry Morgan, the auto dealer who will recondition the cars.
