LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A special goat traveled 1,200 miles to start a new life in Louisville.

Silverado was born in South Dakota just 18 days ago. He has a neurological condition and requires a special wheelchair to get around.

Despite those challenges, the community rallied together to raise more than $1,300 so that Silverado could have a fresh start at Butterfly Valley Rescue and Sanctuary in Louisville.

"This will be his forever home, and we're excited to see him have a chance to live," said Brandon Feusner, with Butterfly Valley. "Just providing him daily therapy and rehab and working with him to try to regain as much of the balance as he can on his own. There is hope that eventually he may be able to get out of the wheelchair at least at limited times, but it's trying to take it day-by-day at a time and see what that looks like."

The sanctuary also partners with Valley High School on a vet tech program for students. Those students gathered Thursday to welcome Silverado to his new home.
