Are you traveling somewhere exciting this summer? Make sure to add an exercise routine to your packing list! Before you board the plane for that exotic island, make sure your exercise routine is ready to go, no matter where you are going! Baptist East/Milestone has some helpful tips to make sure you are Travel Exercise Ready!
1) Plan Ahead-- Many hotels and resorts have wonderful exercise facilities available to their patrons at little or no cost. Check out your destination's website to see what exercise amenities are included in your stay so you can plan accordingly.  Your personal trainer should also be able to give you basic exercises that you can adjust depending on your destination's surroundings.
2) Come Prepared-- If you don't want to waste any valuable vacation time by going to the gym, there are a variety of exercises you can do with a few resistance bands in the comfort of your own hotel room. You can purchase these bands almost anywhere that sells exercise equipment. Â
a.   Mini-band Squat with Side Leg Raise
b.   Mini-band Hip Flexion
c.   Mini-band Hip Extension
d.   Mini-band Forward Triceps Extension
e.   Mini-band Overhead Shoulder Press
3) Try Something New- Many resorts offer organized exercise classes, both on land or in the water. Also, if you are going to an exotic area, try learning a dance that is native to that area! The key is to get moving. This may be the perfect time for you to try something you wouldn't ordinarily try on your own! Â
4) Get Creative and See the Sights- If all else fails, take a walking tour of the area you are in. Whether you are walking on the beach or sightseeing in a new city, you will be able to get your cardiovascular exercise in. Plus you will get to discover new places at your vacation destination!
A good "Rule of Thumb" while you are on vacation is setting aside at least 30 minutes out of your day to devote to your exercise routine.  The reward will be when you are able to relax by the pool, knowing you did something good for your health! Your body will 'Thank You'!
