LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Strong winds knocked down trees and power lines Sunday, leaving many in the Louisville area and southern Indiana without power.Ā 

As of 6 a.m. Monday, more than 1,200 people around Jefferson County were without power, according to the LG&E outage map. At one point, more than 9,000 were without power.

Across the river in southern Indiana, only about 15 customers were without power at 6 a.m., according to the Duke Energy outage map. In Scottsburg, the wind was so strong it peeled back the roof of the Scottsburg Water Company building.

Much of the area is under a High Wind Warning until 8 p.m. Sunday with winds ranging between 30-40 mph and gusts of 60 mph.

A Wind Advisory was in effect from 8 p.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday with winds ranging from 25-35 mph and gusts up to 55 mph.Ā
