LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A house fire shut down Dixie Highway in both directions in Valley Station on Friday morning.
According to PRP Deputy Chief Joseph Bowman, fire crews were dispatched to the 13000 block of Dixie Hwy around 6:40 a.m. on Friday morning for a reported structure fire.
Upon arrival, fire officials located a 1-story home on fire.
Dixie Highway had to be shut down in both directions due to the fire hydrant being across the street that fire officials needed to use in order to control the blaze, according to Bowman.
Since then, Dixie Highway has reopened after being shutdown for approximately 35-40 minutes.
It took 25 firefighters approximately 15 minutes to gain control of the fire.
Deputy Bowman said in an interview on Friday morning that the fire began in the front room of the home.
One person was inside the home at the time of the fire, but was able to escape without any injuries.
American Red Cross is assisting the person.
No other injuries were reported.
The arson squad is working to determine the cause of the fire.
