LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some Jefferson County Public Schools elementary students made hundreds of thank-you cards to give to bus drivers on Tuesday.

Toska Adams, the art teacher at Laukhuf Elementary, does a community project with her students every year. This year, they chose to make the cards for bus drivers because of the busing problems that have been happening this school year.

She said it's taught the students empathy, and bus drivers said it was heartwarming.

"I think it's made them pay a little bit more attention to what they do on the buses with the bus drivers," Adams said.

The students made more than 600 cards to hand out to bus drivers Tuesday afternoon.

"Speechless. That's one of those things, that's why the drivers, that's why we do what we do, it's those little things like this that really mean a whole lot to us," said Marcus Dobbs, executive administrator of transportation for JCPS.
