LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- TARC drivers had the chance to improve their driving skills during a rodeo but not the type you are thinking.
It was the 2024 Bus Roadeo at the parking lots of the Kentucky Expo Center on Saturday.
It's a nationally recognized public-transit competition for qualified drivers to test skills used in the daily operation of providing bus service.
Drivers were tested, and scored on over a dozen skills such as Right-Hand Turns, Passenger Pick-ups, and best Safety Habits.
"What it means to me is that it is a very nice challenge because I come from the corporate world and now I am driving a coach," a bus driver said. "It has been a very blessed challenge cause I have learned a lot of things and I will take it out on the streets as I drive"
The first-place winner of the Roadeo will advance to the International Bus Roadeo and represent TARC and the city of Louisville later this year.
