LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - TARC is joining the 21st century with the switch to an Internet-based fare system. Instead of paying cash and exchanging transfer tickets, TARC riders will now tap a pre-paid card to ride the bus.
Starting today, the transit company is hosting eight public comment sessions through the end of the month to educate people on the new system.
Fares will not increase and cash will still be accepted.
"If we can get everybody using this, it's so much easier to get everybody on the bus, and then your not sitting on the corner waiting for everyone to count out their pennies," said Barry Barker, executive director of TARC.
