LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Metro Police are investigating two homicides that took place within about three hours Wednesday evening.
Police responded to a call in the 1000-block of Cecil Avenue in the Chickasaw neighborhood just before 9 p.m. First reports said a man had been shot multiple times in the chest.
18-year-old Shawn Mosley was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot wounds.
Earlier, metro police confirmed a person died at University Hospital after a shooting in the 1100-block of Carlisle Avenue, near Taylor Boulevard in Louisville's south end. It happened about 5:45 p.m.
Neighbors in the area reported to police they heard several shots fired. Responding officers found a man shot inside a gold Buick parked on Carlisle Avenue, police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said. He's been identified as 33-year-old Anthony Griffin of Louisville. The coroner's office says he died of gunshot wounds at 6:06 Wednesday night at U of L Hospital.
"I've been here nine years. The only thing you witness around here is a little arguing from children. You don't witness too much around here. This is a shock to everyone around here, especially when you get it in broad daylight like this right here," said a neighbor, identified only as Mr. Gordon.
Police were scouring the neighborhood both for further clues and a shooting suspect, who remained at large Wednesday evening.
