BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- UofL Health will open its revamped hospital on Monday in Bullitt County.
UofL Health - South Hospital opened its fast-track emergency room back in October. But the rest of the hospital will open to the community March 18.
The hospital will include a 10-bed intensive care unit, enhanced heart care services, expanding emergency capabilities, expanded cardiopulmonary services, a state-of-the-art pharmacy and more.
The new hospital sits off Interstate 65 and Brooks Road. Leaders said the hospital will be a lifeline in Bullitt County.
"It's so important that Bullitt County have an acute inpatient hospital," Heather Fountaine, a spokesperson for UofL Health, said Friday. "Until now, Bullitt County was the largest county in Kentucky that did not have an acute inpatient hospital."
UofL Health - South Hospital will make it possible for patients to stay closer to home and their families.
