UPDATE: Jeffersontown Police say they have identified 'Ding Dong Ditch' suspect

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jeffersontown Police say they have identified the suspect captured in a surveillance image playing "Ding Dong Ditch" in an area neighborhood.

According to a spokesman for Jeffersontown Police, someone had been repeatedly ringing the doorbells at homes in the Monticello neighborhood -- then running away -- in keeping with the prank referred to as "Ding Dong Ditch."

Police say that particular neighborhood has been plagued by the prank for a year now.

Neighbors are fed up. One of them was able to capture a surveillance image of one of the culprits. Police released that image on Wednesday. It's not clear whether the individual pictured here was responsible for all of the "Ding Dong Ditch" incidents, or is just one of several.

On Thursday, police posted an update on social media.

"Thank you for over 40,000 views, 700 shares and comments," the Facebook post stated. "The father of the young man involved has contacted us identifying him. The post has been removed. He is a juvenile and will not be named. While this 'crime' might have seem trivial to some, when we have identifying photos we will use social media to assist us to determining who the person(s) involved are. #socialmediaworks"
