LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Running and bourbon was the combined theme of a half marathon in Louisville on Saturday.
Nearly three thousand people participated in the fifth-annual Urban Bourbon Half Marathon.
The course started and ended in downtown Louisville.
A bourbon bash was held for runners on the Belvedere after the race was over, which included dozens of local bourbons and food.
Organizers say the event was set up to give the runners a unique experience.
"We felt like with what we have to offer in Kentucky with bourbon and particularly in downtown Louisville with the urban bourbon experience, it would be a great fit," said Karl Schmitt, President and CEO of the Louisville Sports Commission. "And the reaction has been terrific around the country."
Saturday's race also included an Urban Bourbon Walk, which featured restaurants on Whiskey Row.
