LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A group of volunteers came together Saturday in honor of the great Muhammad Ali.

Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins and residents of the Parkland neighborhood to revitalize a rundown alley behind the home where Muhammad Ali grew up on Grand Avenue.

They weren't just celebrating a cleaner ally but also wanted to showcase how residents can take ownership of their space and take pride in their neighborhood.

"There was tons of trash back here," said Jefferey Vance, of the Outsiders Cycling Club. "You couldn't drive a car through the alley. There was debris, trash, there was commercialized things, big pieces of wood things of that nature that just made this an unlivable area."

The Outsiders Cycling club was one of the groups that volunteered.

The grassroots concept for the cleanup started a month ago.
